Session Notes - August 26, 2007 Session

The Northwest Club will continue to meet at the Highlands Community Clubhouse through September 9th.

This session marked the fourth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 12 games in which we scored 4,798 points for a 399.83 point-per-game average. Of the 22 recorded bingos we played, two were phonies that went unchallenged.

Our recreational division included two players this week with Elinor Horner and Isabel Keranen playing a couple of leisurely games.

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first was the Full Steam Ahead! Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to the means by which people travel. Judy Carlock played MIG (20 pts) , but Ed Saunders caught a CAB (24 pts) to the finish line and rode away with the $2.25 prize.

The second was the Not Your us"UAL" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the triplet U-A-L consecutively in some order within it. With a smaller than usual crowd, no entries were received for this contest and it will run again next week with a $2.25 prize awaiting a winning entry.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $22.49 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (September 2, 2007) shall feature the following contests:
Not Your us"UAL" Contest - Repeat - $2.25 shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the triplet U-A-L in any order somewhere within it. (e.g. PARADES, PICNICS, BALLGAME, COOKOUTS, FRIENDS, CINEMAS, SHOPPING, HOTDOGS, BURGERS, SCRABBLE, etc.) .
Suffixes Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that ends with one of the suffixes ED, ER, IC, ING, or AL.
