This session marked the twenty-fourth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!
We enjoyed the company of one of Club # 565's old friends, Yvonne Knickerbocker, who was in town visiting relatives.
We'd like to thank club members Carol & Bob Knouse, Richard Spence, and Yvonne Knickerbocker for stocking the goodie table this week. Carol walked through the door with apples, chocolates, and a wonderful cranberry nut bread. Richard prevailed upon his father for another plate of John's great cookies. And Yvonne showed up with chicken wings and coleslaw.
Dee Keys and Elinor Horner comprised our recreational division this week.
The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 36 games in which we scored 13,098 points for a 363.83 point-per-game average. Of the 35 recorded bingos we played, none were phoneys that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests and one repeat contest this week.
The first contest was The High Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains one or more of the letters "Q", "Z", "J", "X", or "K" somewhere within it. Ed Saunders scored 66 with JIVE, Carol Knouse played her UKELELE for 78, but Richard Spence hooked TRIAGES on hijara* to form hijaras*, score 94 points, and take the $4.50 prize.
The second contest was the Low Powered Contest for the highest scoring play of a word having no letters worth more than one point anywhere within it. Carol Knouse put down SLURRIES for 56, Richard Spence tried ENTERON for 68, but Ed Saunders blew in with ETESIANS for 74 points and picks up $4.50 for the club kitty
The repeat contest was the "ABLE" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letterS "A", "B", "L", and "E", in any order somewhere within it. Once again, no one was ABLE to come up with such a word this week so we'll run it again next time with $3.00 awaiting the eventual winner.
Ed's winnings are donated back to the club kitty.
No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $207.78 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.
