Session Notes - September 16, 2007 Session

The Northwest Club will continue to meet at the Highlands Community Clubhouse through September 30th.

This session marked the seventh of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The tournament rules division was joined by 3 players who played 14 games in which we scored 5,762 points for a 411.5714 point-per-game average. Of the 26 recorded bingos we played, none were phonies that went unchallenged.

We welcomed Bob and Carol Knouse to our recreational division this week. The Knouses played three-way games with Ed, Judy, and Richard at one table while Elinor Horner, Dee Keys and Isabel Keranen played at a second table. We had four bingos reported from the recreational players this week (see "Bingos" below).

Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first regular contest was the Amos Alonzo Stagg Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to college sports. Richard Spence had the only entry with "The basketball RIMS broke when the college basketball players did slam dunks on them." This was an 82 point bingo hook play. Richard stuffs. . . .the $2.25 prize in his pocket on his way down the floor.

The second was the In or Out Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either "IN" or "OUT". Richard Spence again had the only entry, playing IN/NAH/AH for 13 pts and another $2.25 prize.

Ed Saunders had just drawn a rack of AENOTV? and picked out his bingo play of VENATiON to an open "N" for 70 pts when Richard Spence dropped REUNITER (58 pts) through the "N" that Ed was going to use, leaving the final "R" in the fourth spot between two triple word scores. Hmmmm. . . .Ed picks up the $4.48 Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot with OVeRNEAT through the fortuitously positioned "R" for 149 points.

Judy Carlock played the double-double bingo RESIGNER through the first "E", hooking the "S" on JOW for 100 points and the $2.24 100+Play Progressive Jackpot.

No one cashed in on either of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $48.88 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (September 23, 2007) shall feature the following contests:
First Day of Autumn Contest - September 23, 2007 is the first day of Autumn. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to the fall season. (e.g. AUTUMNAL, COLORFUL, COOLING, SEASONS, HARVEST, EQUINOX, SOLSTICE, BOUNTIES, SUKKAHS, FOLIAGE, etc.). To qualify for this contest, you must write a sentence connecting your word to Autumn in some manner. Make the connection, and coins may "fall" into your pocket.
Oh, "K", Let's Have A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "K" somewhere within it.
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $4.48 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
