Session Notes - December 16, 2007 Session

This session marked the nineteenth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

We were graced with the delightful company of Sandra Masel this week. Sandra is visiting Tucson for a couple of weeks from Australia and is always a welcome guest.

We'd like to thank Elinor Horner, Monique Kornell, Judy Carlock, Margaret Miller, and Ed Saunders for contributing to the goodie table this week.

Margaret Miller, Elinor Horner, and Isabel Keranen comprised our recreational division this week.

The tournament rules division was joined by 4 players who played 22 games in which we scored 8,121 points for a 369.1364 point-per-game average. Of the 27 recorded bingos we played, two were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week.

The first regular contest was The Sump'n For The Tummy Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of a food eaten by people somewhere in the world. Monique Kornell ordered up some AHI for 15 pts, Ed Saunders tried a little MEZE for 41, but Judy Carlock served up some local fare with ORANGES for 63 pts and pockets the $3.00 dessert.

The second was the IN or OUT Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains either of the words "IN" or "OUT" somewhere within it. Monique Kornell was ADMIRING her 68 pt entry, Ed Saunders fell back on his LINEAGE to score 74, but Judy Carlock had the INANEST play of the day for 80 and puts another $3.00 IN her pocket as a result.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $173.67 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (December 23, 2007) shall feature the following contests:
• "OUT" Of Options Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "O", "U", and "T" in any order OTHER than "OUT" somewhere within it (e.g. ULTERIOR, CORNUTOS, TROILUS, PITIOUS, TINAMOUS, OPULENT, SAUTOIRE, CLOTURES, TUXEDOS, etc.). Any entry that has the word "OUT" in it will be thrown "OUT" of the contest.
• Mix"ING" Up The End"ING" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "I', "N", and "G" in any order OTHER than "ING" somewhere within it. (e.g. PIGSNEY, GANGLION, IGNIFIED, FIGMENTS, GNOMISTS, COREIGNS, GAHNITE, UMANGITE, GINKGOES, OUTGRIN, GENOISE, WIDGEONS, etc.). Any entry with "ING" in that order will be missING out on the prize.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.12 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.96 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $3.92 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
