This session marked the fourteenth of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!
We'd like to thank Judy Carlock and Ed Saunders for providing the club
with goodies this week. Judy provided cheese, crackers, and pepperonis and
Ed trotted out a veggie tray and dip.
Elinor Horner and Isabel Keranen comprised the Recreational Division this
week. We're hoping to get some new recreational players into the mix in
the next couple of weeks.
The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 30 games in which we scored 11,454 points for a 381.8 point-per-game average. Of the 37 recorded bingos we played, four were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for the tournament session include:
Some interesting bingos:
We featured two regular contests this week.
The first regular contest was the Veteran's Day Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is representative of the important role our service members have played in the founding and preservation of America and the American way of life. Bob Knouse picks up the $4.50 prize with a 32 point play of the word BRAVE.
The second was the "LL" Contest for the highest scoring play
of a word that contains the couplet "LL"
somewhere within it. Ed Saunders opened his first game with the 78 point
bingo ENROLLS. Richard Spence submitted GILLS
( 21) and Carol Knouse chipped in with GULL (10).
Ed picks up the $4.50 for this contest.
Ed Saunders had a rack of EEIPRSS and needed a bingo to get back into his
game with Janis Clem. He didn't notice anything initially, but he persisted
and finally saw an open "T" with an open "D" two spaces
behind it. Persistence paid off as Ed was able to drop the 9-letter bingo
PERSISTED through the "T" to the
"D" for 68 points and an eventual 6 point victory. Ed also picks
up $4.12 for winning the 9+Bingo Progressive Jackpot.
No one cashed in on any of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $1.12 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $130.96 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.
