Session Notes - August 5, 2007 Session

This session marked the beginning of life for NSA Club # 565's new Northwest presence and the first session of NSA Club #565 (Northwest)'s 2007-2008 season!

The tournament rules division was joined by 6 players who played 16 games in which we scored 5,888 points for a 368 point-per-game average. Of the 19 recorded bingos we played, one was a phony that went unchallenged.

Isabel Keranen was our only recreational player this week and managed to chalk up a bingo in her game against Ed Saunders.

The next session (August 12) shall feature the following contests:
• Did You Hear About This? Contest - On August 12, 1877, Thomas Alva Edison made the first sound recording. In honor of this occasion, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the highest scoring play of a word that pertains to sound. . . .(e.g. NOISIER, MELODIC, DRUMBEAT, WHISTLE, SILENCE, BIRDSONG, CLANGOR, MUSICAL, WHISPER, etc.) . To qualify for this contest, you need to write a sentence connecting your word to sound in some manner. If you can make the connection, someone might want to hear about your winnings.
•Mind Your "Qs" Contest -A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Q"somewhere within it. (e.g. QUANTUM, EQUISETA, COQUETTE, OPAQUES, BEZIQUE, TRANQUIL, MBAQANGA, etc.).
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
