Session Notes - February 28, 2008 Session

This session marked the sixteenth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

We were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 10 games in which we scored 3,454 points for a 345.40 points per game average. Of the 13 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

No recreational players were present and no games were played in the rec division this week. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured one repeat and two regular contests this week

The repeat contest was the Gem Show Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a mineral, rock, or geological formation. Pat Madea's 20 point play of LAVA was hot enough to win the $1.50 prize.

The first regular contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest #1 for the highest scoring play of a word that either begins or ends with the letter "M". Birthday boy Mickey Matz managed MORALES, making off with 66 points and the $2.25 winnings.

The second regular contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest #2 for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "E" or "S". You guessed it, the other birthday boy, Ed Saunders submitted the winning "S" word, SAUCIER for 68, and scarfs up the $2.25 prize for this contest.

Ed's winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $104.56 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 6, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
Mar. Madness Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it (e.g. RHAMNOSE, SMARAGDS, FULMARS, EMERITAS, UMBRELLA, ALMONERS,, etc.).
Let's U and I Have A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "U" and "I" in any order somewhere within it. (e.g. UINTAITE, ANGUINE, UMBILICI, IMMUNIZE, SUZERAIN, UBIQUITY, UMANGITE, WICKIUPS, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $4.85 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $3.17 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
