Session Notes - March 27, 2008 Session

This session marked the twentieth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 2 tournament division players who played 6 games in which we scored 2,279 points for a 379.833 points per game average. Of the 9 recorded bingos we played, one was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The Happy, Happy Birthday Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that begins with either of the letters "R", or "S". Ed Saunders picked this one up with his 75 point bingo RENNINS.

The second regular contest was the "Y" Not Have A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Y" somewhere within it. Ed Saunders wins this prize by an EYELASH (90 pts).

Ed's $3.00 winnings go back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $121.41 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (April 3, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Communications Contest - On April 3, 1860, the first successful Pony Express run from Saint Joseph, MO to Sacramento, CA began. In honor of this event, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that pertains in some manner to any form of communication. "Iffy" entries must be supported by a sentence connecting your word to communications in some way. (e.g. LINGUIST, TELEVISE, POSTAGE, RADIOED, EMAILING, GABFEST, CHITCHAT, etc.).
• "X" Marks The Pot Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "X" somewhere within it. (e.g. XEROTIC, MIXIXES, SALPINX, VERNIXES, OXALISES, OXYMORA, EQUINOX, OXPECKER, POLEAXES, XANTHAN, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $6.33 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.92 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.92 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $11.92 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
