Session Notes - January 24, 2008 Session

This session marked the twelfth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

We were joined by 4 tournament division players who played 16 games. Of the 16 recorded bingos we played, 1 was a phoney that went unchallenged.

Phyllis Spence and newcomer Roger Wiens comprised our recreational division this week. Both played the majority of their games against tournament division players. Click here for a roster of Recreational Players

Some numbers and whatnot for this tournament session include:

Some interesting bingos:

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The "V" Is For Victory Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter"V" somewhere within it. Richard Spence played VAV for 30 pts, Mickey Matz scored 49 with DOVES/ZEDS, and Ed Saunders was aquiver with excitement when he played AQUIVER through the "I" for a D/D and 76 pts. Ed picks up $3.00 for the club kitty.

The second regular contest was the A Word To The "Y"s Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "Y" somewhere within it. Ed Saunders dropped POUTY for 41 pts but Richard Spence front-hooked the "S" in ADDREST on to WAY to form SWAY and score 76 pts, more than enough to pick up the $3.00 in the prize fund.

Ed's $3.00 winnings for the night go back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.75 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $73.13 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (January 31, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
The Electric Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains either the letters "A" and "C" or the letters "D" and "C" (AC/DC) in either order anywhere within it (e.g. CZAREVNA, RATICIDE, ACAJOUS, DRACHMS, CECROPIA, AQUEDUCT, MAJOLICA, ASCIDIUM, etc.).
"EAU" What A Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "E", "A", and "U" in any order somewhere within it. (e.g. YARMULKE, DASYURE, JAMBEAUX, ULULATED, EXUVIAL, UNEQUAL, DULCINEA, TUNICATE, PARVENU, etc.)
Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $2.43 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.75 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
