Session Notes - April 17, 2008 Session

This session marked the twenty-third week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 2 tournament division players who played 6 games in which we scored 2,010 points for a 335 points per game average. Of the 7 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was the Take Me For A Ride In Your Car Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, any car or land-based motor vehicle. Ed Saunders drove home with the $1.50 from this contest following his 64 pt play of RENOVATE, which contains the name of a Chevy,the NOVA, within it.

The second regular contest was the Feathered Friends Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is, or incorporates somewhere within it, the name of a bird. Ed Saunders flew home with another $1.50, winning this contest with a 22 pt play of OWLS.

Ed's $3.00 winnings go back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.37 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $136.58 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (April 24, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Oh, You Can Call Me "JAY" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letter "J". (e.g. FEIJOAS, JAROVIZE, SVARAJES, DJEBELS, JARGONEL, BIJUGOUS, FANJETS, JOCULAR, AJOWANS, etc.).
• Here, Fishy, Fishy! Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or incorporates the name of within it, a fish or other underwater creature. (e.g. SEAROBIN, TUNICATE, OCTOPUS, INCONNU, MOJARRA, RATTAIL, OARFISH, MOLLIES, NAUTILI, REMORAS, PIRANHA, RORQUALS, SEAHORSE, CUCUMBER, RATFISH, LOBSTER, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $8.01 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.60 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.93 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $13.60 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
