Session Notes - March 13, 2008 Session

This session marked the eighteenth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

With three tournament players in attendance and Pat Madea indicating that he had to leave a little early, we ran a three-game 2 against 1 round robin for the first part of the session as a buffer against sitouts and an educational opportunity for the players involved.

In the Tournament session, we were joined by 2 tournament division players who played 2 games in which we scored 844 points for a 422 points per game average. Of the 4 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The Mar. Madness Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it. There were no entries for this contest again this week, so we will carry it over into future sessions until someone wins it.

The second regular contest was the "TH" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "TH", in that order, somewhere within it. No entries were recorded in this contest either, so we will roll it over into next week in search of a winner.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.18 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $111.66 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 20, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Mar. Madness Contest - $3.00 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it (e.g. RHAMNOSE, SMARAGDS, FULMARS, EMERITAS, UMBRELLA, ALMONERS,, etc.).
• "TH" Contest - $0.75 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "TH", in that order somewhere within it. (e.g. THIAZINE, STHENIC, RHYTHMIC, MYTHICAL, ORNITHES, NEOLITH, ISTHMUS, WITHHOLD, NAETHING, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.59 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $0.18 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $0.18 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $11.18 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
