Session Notes - December 6, 2007 Session

This session marked the sixth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

This week we enjoyed the pleasant company of Sandra Masel, visiting Tucson from Australia.

This season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

We were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 12 games. Of the 15 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two repeat and two regular contests this week.

The first repeat contest was The Name Of The Game Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of a recognizable game. Sandra Masel rolled the DICE for 33 points and the $3.00 pot.

The second repeat contest was the "IC" A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "IC" in that order somewhere within it. Mickey Matz had both PICKY and TICKET for 22 pts each, Sandra Masel's DICE garnered her 33 pts, but Ed Saunders hooked ZOA on the back end of EROTIC to form EROTICA for 45 pts and the $2.25 prize.

The first regular contest was The Sump'n For The Tummy Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of a food eaten by people somewhere in the world. Ed Saunders served up ARUGOLA for 16 pts, Mickey Matz cut himself a small slice of ZA for 22 pts, and Sandra Masel cut off a little bigger slice of ZA for 42 pts and the $2.25 special dessert.

The second regular contest was the IN or OUT Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains either of the words "IN" or "OUT" somewhere within it. Mickey Matz was STARING at a 68 point play, Ed Saunders was GEARING up for the win with his 71 point play, but Sandra Masel went DARTING past to claim the $2.25 "IN" prize.

Ed's $2.25 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty. Thanks.

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $29.25 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (December 20th) shall feature the following contests:
• "OUT" Of Options Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "O", "U", and "T" in any order OTHER than "OUT" somewhere within it (e.g. ULTERIOR, CORNUTOS, TROILUS, PITIOUS, TINAMOUS, OPULENT, SAUTOIRE, CLOTURES, TUXEDOS, etc.). Any entry that has the word "OUT" in it will be thrown "OUT" of the contest.
• Mix"ING" Up The End"ING" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "I', "N", and "G" in any order OTHER than "ING" somewhere within it. (e.g. PIGSNEY, GANGLION, IGNIFIED, FIGMENTS, GNOMISTS, COREIGNS, GAHNITE, UMANGITE, GINKGOES, OUTGRIN, GENOISE, WIDGEONS, etc.). Any entry with "ING" in that order will be missING out on the prize.
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $6.05 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $4.29 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $6.71 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $4.66 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
