Session Notes - January 31, 2008 Session

This session marked the fourteenth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

We were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 12 games. Of the 16 recorded bingos we played, 3 were phoneys that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The "I"s Have It Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains two or more "I"s somewhere within it. Mickey Matz dropped JINXING for 42 pts, Ed Saunders played MISPOINT for 78, but Pat Madea made DIETING pay off for 83 pts and the $2.25 prize.

The second regular contest was The "NO"s Have It Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "NO", in that order, somewhere within it. Mickey Matz was the only contestant in this contest, playing NOD and NOB, the latter for 25 pts and the win. $2.25 goes to Mickey (NO foolin')

No one cashed in on any of the Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $85.13 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (February 14, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• The Words Of Love Contest - In honor of the Valentine's Day Holiday, a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that reflects the meaning of the holiday. (e.g. CHERUBIC, ARCHERS, WARMTHS, CUDDLING, POETICS, TRYSTING, COUPLES, DULCINEA, PIGSNEY, SWEETER, KNEESIES, HONGIING, KISSABLE, etc.).
• The Gem Show Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that is the name of, or that incorporates the name of somewhere within it, a mineral, rock, or geological formation. (e.g. INLIERS, KOPPIES, GAHNITES, EMERALDS, CRYSTAL, PEBBLES, BEDROCK, NEPHRITE, BOWLDERS, MOUNTAIN, GARNETS, NUNATAK, SEAMOUNT, EARSTONE, HILLOCKS, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $3.92 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $2.24 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $11.56 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $9.51 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
