Session Notes - March 6, 2008 Session

This session marked the seventeenth week of NSA Club #565's 2007-2008 season!

Since this season will be our first full season as a two-tiered club with both a Recreational and a separate Tournament Rules Division. There will be some tweaking done as the Recreational Division develops.

We were joined by 3 tournament division players who played 6 games in which we scored 2,164 points for a 360.67 points per game average. Of the 6 recorded bingos we played, none was a phoney that went unchallenged.

We featured two regular contests this week

The first regular contest was The Mar. Madness Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it. There were no entries for this contest this week, so we will carry it over into future sessions until someone wins it.

The second regular contest was the Let's U And I Have A Contest for the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "U" and "I" somewhere within it. Pat Madea snuck off with the $2.25 prize with his 6 point play of UNIT.

Ed Saunders picked up a pair of the Progressive Jackpots this week. Ed wins $3.73 for his 111 point play of HEXAGON which claimed the 100+ Point Play Progressive Jackpot. Then he tacked on a few more points to finish that game with a big 602 points and tack $1.12 on to his winnings for the Club 565 Progressive Jackpot.

Ed's $4.85 winnings will be donated back to the club kitty.

No one cashed in on either of the other Progressive Jackpots this week and each shall have $0.56 added to it. As of this session we have paid out $111.66 in prizes this season. Click here for a complete list of prizes awarded during the 2007-2008 season.

The next session (March 13, 2008) shall feature the following contests:
• Mar. Madness Contest - $2.25 plus a quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the letters "M", "A", and "R", in any order, somewhere within it (e.g. RHAMNOSE, SMARAGDS, FULMARS, EMERITAS, UMBRELLA, ALMONERS,, etc.).
• "TH" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest scoring play of a word that contains the couplet "TH", in that order somewhere within it. (e.g. THIAZINE, STHENIC, RHYTHMIC, MYTHICAL, ORNITHES, NEOLITH, ISTHMUS, WITHHOLD, NAETHING, etc.)
•Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.41 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
•100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
•Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - A sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
•9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $11.00 plus a sixteenth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
