One of the two contests for this evening went unclaimed. The "-MAN or -MEN Contest" for the highest scoring word of 4 or more letters ending in MAN or MEN had no entries. As is such we are going to roll it over to next week's session. The other contest for the session had very few entries and a very low scoring winning entry. The "Add 2" contest for the highest scoring word formed by adding two tiles to a preexisting word goes to Nathan Benedict, who added E and W to OR to form WORE for 14 points. Nathan takes home $7.50, and next week shall feature an extra contest for the unclaimed one this week.
This session also featured the letter H in the ongoing Alphabet Bingo Contest in which all bingos starting with an "H" scored a point. Three folks scored points, and Nathan Benedict is in the lead and Monique Kornell is in second.Click here for Alphabet Bingo standings and rules!
Two of the four progressive jackpots was taken this session. Nathan Benedict won the Club #565 Progressive Jackpot by playing a game of 565 or more points. His 600 point game was the highest of the season so far. Jeremiah Ramirez won the 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot by playing the (phony) 9-letter bingo BOYCOTING*. This earns him $2.06. The other jackpot prizes shall have $2.06 added to them. As of this session, we have payed out $266.58 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. Click here for a complete list of winners.
The next session (03 February) shall feature the following contests:
- High Loss - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to
the player with the highest losing score.
- "What's on the Menu" Contest - A quarter of dues
collected shall be awarded to the highest-scoring play of a food that is on
the Denny's menu. To qualify for this contest you must record the food word
and the Denny's dish it is on (e.g., The Grand Slam has PANCAKES). Don't forget
to tip your server well!
- "-MAN or -MEN Contest" - $7.75 shall be awarded
to the player who makes the highest-scoring play of a word that is 4 or more
letters and ends in the suffixes -MAN or -MEN (e.g., YEGGMAN, DRAYMEN, etc.).
