This was the 41st session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
With folks straggling back from Nationals, we only had three folks join us, which was an intimate setting but fun nonetheless. e were joined by a 9 players, who played a total of 8 games in which we scored 6,083 points for a 760.4 point-per-game average. Of the 24 recorded bingos we played, 4 were phonies that went unchallenged.

This session featured two contests. The first was the "UP and OUT" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word beginning with UP- or OUT-. Ed Saunders took this with OUTREAPS for 83 points. The second contest was for the closest winning score, which Naurlene Canterman snagged with a 364-339 victory, which was only a 25 point spread. Bob and Lewis take home $6.75 prizes.
Naurlene picked up the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot with a 102-point (phony) play of REBREWED*. The remaining progressive jackpots shll each have $0.56 added to them. Finally, the "10 Useful Letters" contest started. Josh Kassel was the first player on the board, scoring one point; for standings and rules, click here. The next session (1 September) shall feature the following contests:
- "E Before I" Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player makes the highest scoring play that contains a word that breaks the "I Before E' and has an E before I (e.g., FOREIGN, PROTEIN, REISSUE, etc.).
- "High Double Contest" - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player makes the highest scoring play that lands on a Double Word Score.
- Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $8.23 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
- 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
- Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $24.87 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
- 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $2.24 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
