This was the 37th session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by a 8 players, who played a total of 21 games in which we scored 15,073 points for a 717.7 point-per-game average. Of the 51 recorded bingos we played, only one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
High Game - 487 points by Nathan Benedict
Low Win - 315 points by Lewis Saul
High Loss - 392 points by Lewis Saul (Opponent at 421)
Bingo King - Ed Saunders r for averaging 2 bingos per game
Second Guessing One's Self Does Not Pay Off - Josh Kassel notes that towards the end of his game against Naurlene Canterman, he saw ENERGIDS played through the only bingo line on the board to the TWS. He saw it, knew it, and second guessed himself, which cost him the game.
Some interesting bingos:
- LINTERS \n pl. Machines for removing fibers from cotton seeds (played by Karen Lundeen)
- PEATIER \adj. More resembling or containing peat (played by Joshua Kassel)

This session featured two contests. The first was the "Opening Play " contest for the highest scoring opening play of the game. Monique kornell took this with a 66 point opening play of SONDERS. The second contest was the "Monsoon Madness" contest, to celebrate the beginning of the monsoon season, for the highest scoring play beginning with an M. Lewis Saul took this one with an 89 point play of MISDATE, which barely beat out Nathan Benedict's 83 point play of MUTEDLY. Monique and Lewis take home $6.00 prizes.
Lewis also won the 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot by playing a 103 point play of FAINTLY, which earns him another $1.50 The other three progressive jackpots shall each have $1.50 added to them. As of this session, we have payed out $749.94 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. Click here for a complete list of winners.
The next session (28 July) shall feature the following contests:
- Bingo Followup Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who scores the most points on the turn made after playing a bingo.
