This was St. Patricks Day as well as the 19th session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by 8 players, who played a total of 21 games in which we scored 15,274 points for a 727.3 point-per-game average. Of the 50 recorded bingos we played, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged.

This being St. Patricks Day, we held a St. Patricks Day Contest for the best play of a word pertaining to the holiday. We saw the following entries:

- The DECREES went out -- all Scrabblers not wearing green will get seven consonants (played by Michael Rhodes)
- People tend to DOZE off after a drunken St. Patrick's Day (played by Naurlene Canterman)
- At the pub, the patrons were trying to get there the EARLIEST to outdrink the others. (played by Naurlene Canterman)
- On St. Pat's day, all Irish people are merry as GRIGS (played by Judith Whitcomb)

My pal Jon agreed to be the judge of the contest and decided on Judith Whitcomb's play of GRIGS to be the winner. Also, we featured a contest for highest game, which was taken by Jason Sommer with a 540 pointer. Jason and Judith both take home $5.50 prizes.
This session also featured the letter O in the ongoing Alphabet Bingo Contest in which all bingos starting with an "O" scored a point. Three players turned in bingos starting with O, and Nathan Benedict remains in 1st place, with Ed Saunders pulling into second.Click here for Alphabet Bingo standings and rules!
Two of the four progressive jackpots was taken. Jason Sommer picked up the Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot by laying down a 167 point play of FIRESIDE. Robert Whitcomb captured the 100 Plus Play Progressive Jackpot with a 101 point play of FRITZES. Jason takes home $3.37, and Robert wins $7.68. These jackpots will roll over to zero, and $1.50 shall be added to the other two. As of this session, we have payed out $444.03 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. The next session (24 March) shall feature the following contests:
- "TLS/DWS " Contest - ~A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the highest scoring play made using both a Triple Letter Score and a Double Word Score bonus square played at the same time.
- Low Win - ~A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player with the lowest winning score.
Alphabet Bingo Contest - The Alphabet Bingo Letter for this session is P. Each bingo beginning with P scores one point (click here for standings and rules)
- Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
- 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - An eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
- Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $3.37 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
- 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $12.36 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
