This was the 32nd session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by a 6 players, who played a total of 17 games in which we scored 12,441 points for a 731.8 point-per-game average. Of the 35 recorded bingos we played, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
High Game - 492 points by Ed Saunders
Low Win - 297 points by Judy Carlock
High Loss - 378 points by Joshua Kassel (Opponent at 389)
Bingo Kings - Ed Saunders for averaging 1.571 bingos per game
Some interesting bingos:
- LENTIGO \n. A freckle (played by Ed Saunders)
- OESTRINS \n pl. Types of estrogen (played by Michael Rhodes)
- VAUNTIE \adj. Boastful (played by Naurlene Canterman)
This session featured two contests. First was the Close Loss contest for the losing score that was closest to an opponent's winning score. Naurlene Canterman won this with a close game against Ed Saunders, who barely beat her with a 359-365 score. Although she lost the game, there is a silver lining in that her loss resulted in her winning the Close Loss conntest. Ed Saunders won our second contest of the session: the Power Tile Contest for the highest scoring play beginning with J, Q, X, or Z. Hos 83 point play QUOINED was enough to beat out Michael Rhodes 2nd place entry of QUEUED for 75. Naurlene and ed both win $4.50 prizes.
None of the four progressive jackpots were won, and each shall each have $1.12 added to them. As of this session, we have payed out $672.00 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. Click here for a complete list of winners.
The next session (23 June) shall feature the following contests:
- John Gotti Contest - On June 23, 1992, John "The Teflon Don" Gotti was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty on 14 accounts of conspiracy to commit murder and racketeering. In memory of that, a quarter of dues collected will be paid to the player who turnes in the most amount of points made by adding his or her highest scoring play beginning with J and his or her highest scoring play beginning with G. For example, if you play JUKED for 70 points in one game and GARBAGE for 92 in another, your high "JG" score would be 162..
- High Win - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who turns in the highest winning score.
- Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $5.98 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
- 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $7.29 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
- Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $12.71 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
- 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $3.36 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
* = Jackpot prizes cannot be combined.
