This was the 40th session of the 2004 - 2005 Season of National Scrabble Association Club #565!
We were joined by a 9 players, who played a total of 23 games in which we scored 16,672 points for a 724.8 point-per-game average. Of the 48 recorded bingos we played, only one was a phony that went unchallenged.
Some numbers and whatnot for this session include:
High Game - 529 points by Lewis Saul
Low Win - 332 points by Jeannette Kaufman
High Loss - 395 points by Joshua Kassel (Opponent at 403)
Bingo King - Lewis Saul for averaging 2.000 bingos per game
Bingo Threepeat - Naurlene Canterman notes she was able to open her game against Monique Kornell with three back-to-back bingos of TURNING (70), SOUNDING (82), and REPORTER (83), racking up 235 points in three plays.

This session featured two contests. The first was the "PRO or CONtest" Contest for the highest scoring play of a word beginning with PRO- or CON-. We had only two entries for this contest:
Bob Yarmchuk played CONE for 24Ed Saunders played PROBED for 22
The second contest was for high game, which Lewis Saul picked up with a 529 game. Bob and Lewis take home $6.75 prizes.
None of the four progressive jackpots were won this session, and each shall each have $1.68 added to them. As of this session, we have payed out $818.90 in prizes for the 2004-2005 season. Click here for a complete list of winners.
Finally, beginning next week we will be starting a new contest called "10 Useful Letters" that will be played over the next ten club sessions, which are the last ten of the session. For complete rules, click here.
The next session (25 August) shall feature the following contests:
- Close Win Contest - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player who wins a game by the narrowest margin. Ties do not count.
- "UP and OUT Contest" - A quarter of dues collected shall be awarded to the player makes the highest scoring play of a word beginning with UP or OUT (e.g., UPTURN, OUTSPEND, etc.). In order to qualify for this contest, the player must play the tile UP or OUT. Hooking a previously-played UP or OUT word does not count.
- Triple-Triple Progressive Jackpot* - $7.67 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores a Triple-Triple play.
- 100+ Play Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 100 or more points in a single play
- Club 565 Progressive Jackpot - $24.31 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who scores 565 or more points in a single game.
- 9+ Bingo Progressive Jackpot* - $1.68 plus an eighth of the session's dues will be awarded to any player who plays a bingo of 9 or more letters in length.
- 10 Useful Letters Contest - This session's "Useful Letters" are A and J. Every bingo you play beginning with A or J scores you points. For standings and rules, click here.
