+ Session NotesThis was our eighth session of the season. We were joined by 12 players and welcomed the return of Linda Bredel, who has been absent for far too long. We missed her presence and are happy to see her back. We played 30 games in which 22,360 points were scored for a 475.3 points-per-game average. We played 62 bingos this session. Of those bingos, 5 were phonies that went unchallenged. Judith Whitcomb was the top player of the night, turning in a 5-0+486 scorecard. Joining her in the 100% club were Jason Sommer and Linda Bredel, both of whom went undefeated. Ed Sanders was the Bingo King by playing 11 Bingos in 6 games. The Low Win prize, a quarter of the dues, is awarded to Karen Lundeen with a 344-point win over her opponent's score of 300. We also featured the "Brrr" (or the "That's Why We Live in Tucson") contest for the highest scoring play that evokes the chill of winter. As with other themed contests, the instructions were to "be creative" in you entries. Folks were. The entries were:- COFFINS (73 points) "What you are put into when you freeze to death" - GUTTERS (64 points) "The GUTTERS fill with ice back east" - DIP (27 points) "A DIP in the temperature" - GLOOM (22 points) "What the east gets in the winter." The winner of the contest, is Judith Whitcomb with BEASTLY (92 points) "The BEASTLY winter weather elsewhere." Both Judith and Karen take home $8.50 in prizes. Our four progressive jackpot prizes all went unclaimed, and $2.25 will be added to each. Seven folks scored points in the Double Bingo contest, and Ed Saunders remains in 1st place with 9 points; click here for standings. Next Session (15 January) will feature the following contests: + Bingos by PlayerBelow are the bingos played during the 08 January 2004 session at National Scrabble Association Club #565.
