+ Session NotesThis was our 25th session of the season. We were joined by 12 players who played a total of 34 games in which we scored a total of 22,543 points for a 704.5 points-per-game average. We played 52 bingos this session. Of those bingos, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged. As of this session, we have paid out $645.97 in prizes during the 2003-2004 season; click here for the list of winners! Naurlene Canterman was the session's top player, turning in a scorecard with 83% of her games won. Ed Saunders was the bingo king, playing 13 bingos in 6 games. Liz Shaw, for whom this was only her third time joining us, gets a tip of the hat for breaking the 300 mark for the first time with a 312-point winning against her opponent. The contests this evening were both won with phony words, proving that bluffing does indeed pay off on occasion. The "High 5" contest for the highest-scoring play using any 5 tiles was won by Joshua Kassel for a 56-point play of the phony word FAZERS*. Other notable High 5 plays include Judith Whitcomb's 52-point play GRAVE, Monique Kornell's 46-point play of CHAFED (played through an existing "A"), and Ed Saunder's apt play of APTLY for 45 points. Brent Aronson picked up the second contest of the session: the "IN n' OUT" contest for the highest-scoring play beginning with either IN or OUT, his 77-point play of OUTDEALS* just beat out the runner up: Judith Whitcomb's 68-pointer of OUTLINER. Josh and Brent both take home prizes of $8.00. Two of the four progressive jackpot prizes were scooped up this session. The $6.00 100+ Jackpot for a play of 100 or more points goes home with Ed Saunders for a 102-point bingo of MARQUEE. Karen Lundeen, in her highest-scoring play this season nailed the Triple-Triple Jackpot with a 122-pointer of LONELIER; Karen walks with $9.56. Those two jackpots will revert to zero, and the other two progressive jackpots will each have $2.25 added to them. Finally, nobody scored points in the AB to YZ Bingo Jackpot. Next session will be the final one in which this contest will run. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, so do your best to put down bingos starting in Y or Z. Click here for full standings. The next Session (13 May) will feature
