+ Session NotesThis was our seventh session of the season. We were joined by 12 players - an impressive number when one considers that most of them were seeing in the new year playing scrabble into the wee hours. We played 27 Games in which 18,738 points were scored for a 694 points-per-game average. We played 45 bingos this session. Of those bingos, 3 were phonies that went unchallenged. We welcomed two new players this session: Eric Kasper, who several years ago played in a New York club and has picked up club Scrabble again while he is in Tucson for the winter months. Eric brings an NSA rating of 807, which will be the basis for his club rating. Also welcomed was a familiar face who has dropped in often but never played: Sherry Schaff. Sherry brings a 1040 NSA rating. Monique was the top player of the night, turning in a 4-0+403 scorecard. Bob Whitcomb, who also had a 4-0 record, gained 42 rating points. Our Bingo King was Ed, with 8 bingos. The High Win prize, a quarter of the dues, will be shared by Monique and Naurlene, who each scored a high game of 487. The New Year contest, worth $7.75 , was won by newcomer Eric with WANTED for 14 points. We have mug winners! Ed played CUP for 24 points and Judith played GUM for 20 points. Each will go home with a 2003 Tucson High Desert Scrabble Tournament commemorative mug. Our four progressive jackpot prizes all went unclaimed, and $2.06 will be added to each. Three folks scored points in the Double Bingo contest, with Bob submitting two T bingos. Ed Saunders remains in 1st place; click here for standings.Next Session (08 January) will feature the following contests: + Bingos by PlayerBelow are the bingos played during the 01 January 2004 session at National Scrabble Association Club #565.
