Session Notes:

This was our 25th session of the season.
We had 15 players who competed in 35 games in which a total of 26,374 points were scored. A higher than usual 87 bingos were played this session, of which a lower than usual 3 of were phonies that went unchallenged.

We welcomed a new player this session: Alan Goldberg. Alan has played in the past at Club #303 and finally made it down to our neck of the woods. Alan made an impression with a two-way Z play (ZED and ZOA) with the Z played on a TLS. 64 points is not too shabby for a three-letter word! Welcome!

We has some amazingly high scores this evening. Bob Whitcomb set a record for this season by starting the evening by playing a 628-point game that featured five bingos. As a finale for this feat, he managed to finish up the night with a 591-pointer, bringing his average for the night to 501 points-per-game! Nathan set a season record as well, by playing 19 bingos over the course of seven games.

Josh snagged the low win prize for the evening by ekeing out a victory of only 327 points. He takes home $6.50 for the night. The "Looooong Word Contest" for the highest-scoring word created by adding a front or back extension was won by.... nobody. Although I am sure someone made an extension play by adding that -ER or -ING suffix or that PRE- or OUT- prefix to an existing word, nobody made note of it on his or her scorecard. Therefore, this contest prize goes unclaimed, and we will feature an extra contest next session.

Finally, we introduced The Alphabet Bingo contest. Five players scored points this session by playing bingos beginning with the letter A. For Alphabet Bingo standings and rules, click here.

Next Session (15 May) will feature the following contests:
- High Win (~a quarter of dues collected)

- "REplay" Contest - A prize will be awarded to the highest-scoring play that contains a word beginning with the prefix RE- (e.g., REPLAY, REDRESS, etc.). To win this contest, the player must play both the R and E tiles (blanks count). Moreover, the "RE" word must remain playable if the "RE" prefix is removed (e.g., REPLAY/PLAY, REDRESS/DRESS, etc.) (~a quarter of dues collected).
- Color Contest - A prize will be awarded to the player who makes the highest-scoring play by playing a word relating to a color (e.g., YELLOW, BLUING, GREENISH, BLACKOUT, MUAVE, etc.). ($6.50).
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - A jackpot of $7.50 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who score a Triple-Triple Play.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot
-
A jackpot of $14.00 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who score a bingo containing nine or more letters.
- Alphabet Bingo
- The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "B." For each bingo you play that begins with the letter B, you score one point. Click here for more information about Alphabet Bingo. ($26 Jackpot)
