Session Notes:

We were happy to see an old friend drop in for some games. Complaining about the lack of competition in Solvang, CA, Jason Sommer drove 700 miles for a visit. He'll be in town for a few weeks and attending club.

This was our 19th session of the season. 15 players competed in 31 games in which a total of 22,155 points were scored. Our players threw down 61 bingos this session. Of those bingos, five were phonies that went unchallenged.

Naurlene Canterman was the night's top player with her 5-1 +191 scorecard. Ed Saunders wears the Bingo King crown this week by turning in eight bingos in four games.Rex Kremer wins the $7.50 prize for High Game with a 529-pointer. Joshua Kassel won the 9+ Bingo Jackpot with a phoney bingo of retirings* -- an effort that only scored him 63 points but that wins a $3.75 prize as well. Nobody scored a Triple-Triple play, and $3.75 will be added to the Triple-Triple Jackpot.

For the St. Patrick's Day contest, the $7.50 prize goes to Naurlene for a 40-point play of KEG (a common fixture at a St. Patty's Day party). The idea for this contest was to play a word associated with the St. Partick's Day holiday or Ireland. The idea was to be creative, and the prize was almost won by Ed Saunders for a 90-point play of WOOZIEST. In thinking long and hard about it, I decided that WOOZIEST (maybe used to describe the drunkest little leprechaun?) might have been stretching it a bit. Then again, it was a nice word and a bingo to boot. So I flipped a coin; it didn't make the contest (sorry, Ed).

Finally, everyone wish Vic Kaye a happy birthday! Vic is turning the big six zero this week. Send him your best wishes for continued health and happiness.

Next session (27 March 2003) will feature prizes for:
- Low Win (a quarter of dues collected)
- "PRE-fix" Contest - A prize will be awarded to the player who plays the highest-scoring word that begins with PRE (e.g., PREX, PREZES, PREVIEW, etc.). (a quarter of dues collected).
- Triple-Triple plays ($3.75 plus an eighth of dues collected)
- 9+ Bingos  (an eighth of dues collected)
