Session Notes:

This our 37th session of the season. Like last week, we had 11 players join us. A total of 31 games were played in which 66 bingos were played. Of those 66 bingos, only 3 were phonies that went unchallenged. A total of 22,501 points were scored, for a 728.8 point-per-game average or 362.9 points per player per game.

We greeted a new player. Bill Glazerman relocated to Sierra Vista in February and will hopefully be able to join us on a somewhat regular basis. An experienced tournament player with an NSA rating of 1780, Bill has not had the opportunity to play in an organized setting for a few years. We welcome him. Also we bid bon voyage to our illustrious co director Monique, who is off to London and other exotic locales for a summer getaway. We'll see her next in six weeks or so.

Naurlene Canterman set a club record for picking up the most club ratings points in a single session, gaining 89 points to put her at 1470. Nathan was the top player of the evening with a perfect 7-0 score card; he also wears the Bingo King crown for the session by scoring 16 bingos in 7 games, only two of which even had anagrams. Linda Bredel wins the "Our Friends Electric" contest for the highest scoring word relating to electricity with a 66-point play of MAGNETS. Vic Kaye wins the Low Win contest with a 322-point victory. Both Linda and Vic pick up $4.50 prizes.

Josh Kassel picked up the Triple-Triple Jackpot for a 131-point play of BROILERS. Unfortunately for him, Linda Bredel had wiped out that jackpot last week, so Josh only picks up $1.25 and the joy of doubling his score in a single play. This session also saw the introduction of a Double-Double Jackpot, which was hit three times: twice by Nathan Benedict with his DECIDUA and PRECAVA plays, and once by Ed Saunders for his play of RACOONS. Since this was a three-way split, Nathan and Ed split only a $1.25 prize. Moreover, since Double-Double plays are somewhat more common, we are going to amend this jackpot prize so that if more than one 2x2 play is scored in a session, only the highest scoring one wins that jackpot. The 9+ Bingo Jackpot and the "Deja Bingo" Jackpot are still up for grabs. Both Jackpots are now at $6.01. Five folks scored points in The Alphabet Bingo Contest with a total of 8 bingos starting with the letter M. With the contest at the halfway point, Ed Saunders is still in 1st place.

Next Session (07 August) will feature the following contests:
- Animal Contest - A prize will be awarded to the player who plays the highest-scoring play that contains a word that is the name of an animal (e.g., CAT, IBEX, MONKEY, GAZELLE, etc.). In order to win this prize, you must play the entire word; pluralizing an existing "animal word" does not count.  (~a quarter of dues collected)
- "Add it Up" Contest - A prize will be awarded to the player who scores the highest amount of points in two successive plays. You must write down the value of BOTH plays in order to qualify for this contest. (~a quarter of dues collected)
- Triple-Triple Jackpot - An eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a Triple-Triple Play.
- Double-Double Jackpot
- An eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to the player with the highest scoring Double-Double Play.
- 9+ Bingo Jackpot
- A jackpot of $6.01 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who scores a bingo containing nine or more letters.
"Deja Bingo" Jackpot - A jackpot of $6.01 plus an eighth of the evening's dues will be awarded to any player(s) who plays the same bingo more than once in a session.

- Alphabet Bingo
- The Alphabet Bingo letter for this session is "N." For each bingo you play that begins with the letter N, you score one point. ($26 Jackpot)
