Session Notes:
Seventeen
players attended this session, our largest ever turnout of local-only
folks. Joining us for the first time was Sandra Michell. Sandra cut her teeth
in tournament play at last week's one-day local club tournament and decided
to start attending Club #565 on a regular basis.
Back from
the winter break, Nathan Benedict showed up and proceeded to mop the floor
with almost all he played save for Judith Whitcomb, who was able to emerge
on top in a game against him. We also welcomed the return of Rex Kremer, who
has been laying low since November. Nathan and Rex, relaxed from their hiatus,
placed first and second for this session. Congratulations.
Picking up
the "MLK Prize" for the highest-scoring work using the M, L, and K tiles was
Naurlene Canternam for a 30-point play of MILK. The
prize for high game goes to Nathan Benedict for a 544 pointer. Nobody nailed
a bingo of nine or more letters, and the pot for doing so is now at $4. Additionally,
nobody was able to play a Triple-Triple, and that prize is now at $27 dollars.
Next
session (30 January) will feature prizes for:
- Highest game (a quarter of dues collected)
- Triple-Triple plays ($27.00 plus an eighth
of dues collected)
- 9+ Bingos ($4.00 plus an eighth of
dues collected)
- High Z Play. A prize will be awarded to
the player who plays the highest-scoring word that contains the Z
tile (e.g., FEZ, IZAR, ZEBUS, ATOMIZE,
etc.). To win this prize, you must play the actual Z tile (designating
a blank as a Z does not count) and not add onto a previously-played Z
word. (a quarter of dues collected).
