Session Notes:
Yes, there
will be club next Thursday, December 26. Have a wonderful
holiday!
Eleven players
participated in this session for a night of repeats. The first repeat comes
courtesy of Judith Whitcomb, whose first three games were against opponents
who all scored the same 340 points agianst her. She promptly expressed her
surprise by playing bingos of URINATES and URINALS. The second
repeat was John Jensen playing the same bingo SUDSIER twice in the
same session. The third repeat was John Jensen and Bob Whitcomb both scoring
a total of 1700 points during the course of their games. Finally, John
Jensen and Karen Lundeen both played the same bingo TUNNELS. Next monsoon
season, stay away from the club; lightning might strike twice.
The Whitcombs
were the session's top dogs. Bob turned in a perfect 4-0 +540 score sheet
to grab the top position for the night. Moreover (and helped in no small part by four bingos),
Bob takes the prize
for High Game of the evening with a 502-pointer. Judith grabbed the number
two position and was Bingo Queen, throwing down an impressive eleven bingos
in five games.
Brent Aronson
wins the contest for the highest-scoring play using the CH tiles
with a 30 point play of CHIEF -- way to go! Nobody played a Triple-Triple
or a bingo of 9 or more letters, and $2.25 will be added to each pot for
doing so.
Next
session (26 December) will feature prizes for:
- Highest game (a quarter of dues collected)
- Triple-Triple plays ($10.75 plus an eighth of dues collected)
- 9+ Bingos ($2.75 plus an eighth of dues collected)
- 4+ Vowel Dumps. A prize will be given for the highest-scoring
word that uses 4 or more vowels (e.g., AALII, SEQUOIA, ADIEU,
AUDIO, LOUIE, etc.). Blanks and hooking onto previously-played
words (e.g., adding E to ZOEA to form ZOEAE)
count. Bone up on your vowel dumps with the Vowel Dumps guide in the DOWNLOADS
section of http://www.TucsonScrabble.com (a quarter of dues collected).
